Hi everyone, you might know that WordPress is an easy-to-use interface for creating awesome websites. It offers many handy features from which you can control the user roles so that if you are working on a big project you can’t build the entire project by yourself and in order to assign the particular roles you can create many users and you being you the admin, you can manage the project very efficiently. And in this blog, I will give you a complete tour of the user roles and capabilities.
Set User roles and their capabilities
First, you need to log in to your WordPress dashboard. If you don’t know how to login into your WordPress website then just enter yourdomain/wp-admin in the URL bar and hit enter and fill in the username and password then click the sign-in button. Now you will be redirected to the WordPress dashboard.
To look into the users, just click on the Users which is on the left sidebar and you will see how many users are there and what roles they are assigned, and also their email id. To create the new user click on the Add new button at the top.
After clicking the add new button you will be redirected to the add new user page in this you can select them as per your requirement.
- First name
- Last name
- Role(Administrator, Editor, Author, Contributor, subscriber).
The email id is a must because a mail will be sent and it will ask the new user to create the password or you can just share the password manually and for user roles, there are five options. You can choose the roles based on the task you are assigning for any particular employee or user.
If you assign the ‘administrator’ role then he will have all the access and if you assign editor then some options will be restricted for him. To get the full details, what roles any particular user is capable of you can see the below image. you can also edit and delete the users by just hovering on the user. You will get the edit, delete and view options.
In the below image you can clearly see what all the roles and capabilities can be done by the Administrator, Editor, Author, Contributor, and subscriber. Thanks to the word fence for the reference.
I hope that you can now manage the user roles efficiently. if you have any doubts then please feel free to mail us at support@gwizacademy.
