When you are about to set up the e-commerce store, The most important step is to set up the payment options for your customers. There are many ways to accept the payments, like cash on delivery, payment gateways, debit card, or credit card and PayPal is among the most well-known payment gateway integration all around the world. So, In this article, we will see how to integrate PayPal into your woo-commerce store so that customers can purchase their products and make payment via their PayPal account, or else they can also pay by their debit or credit card.
If you have not added the PayPal option or any payment gateways, the customer can only order by cash on delivery option, as you can see in the image below. so in order to make the e-Commerce site much more flexible, you should provide as many payment options as possible for the customers. So let’s see how to integrate PayPal into your site.
Integrate PayPal account
To integrate the PayPal account you first need to login to your WordPress dashboard and install the PayPal checkout plugin by clicking on ‘add new plugin’ under the plugin option, so that you can easily add all the functionalities of PayPal. Then go to the settings and click on the payment tab where you can see the following options:
- Direct bank transfer
- Check payment
- Cash on delivery
- PayPal standard
- PayPal checkout
You will see the ‘PayPal checkout’ option in the payments section under woo-commerce after you install the plugin and make sure to enable it. you can also accept payments by enabling the ‘PayPal standard’ but it will redirect the customer to the PayPal website to make the payment. generally, it is not preferred so keep it disabled and click on ‘save changes’ to set up.
You have installed the PayPal checkout and it’s time to add the PayPal account details. so In order to allow the PayPal account to accept any payments made by the customers via the woo-commerce store, collect the API credentials from the PayPal account.
First, you need to create a PayPal account. creating a PayPal account is free and will not take much time and your account will be created. here’s the quick link to Paypal’s website. In your account, to get the details, go to the ‘tools’ and under the tools, select ‘all tools’ and click on the integrated PayPal option which is on the right side. under that, you can see the API credentials section under which click on ‘open’.
now once you are on this page, simply scroll down and you will see “Accept or block payments from your online stores before setting up APIs” below that click on “manage PayPal checkout settings” then you will see a dialog box. Just select the option “Accept PayPal payments before API permissions or credentials are set up” and then click on “submit”. once it is done now you can get the APIs.
To get the credentials, once again select “all tools” from the top bar and click on the “integrate PayPal” option which is on the right side under which locate the section “API credentials” click on “open” now once you are into this page just scroll down and you have the option NVP/SOAP API Integration (classic) here you need to click on the “manage API credentials” than you will receive the OTP to your phone to verify that it’s the owner of the account. after that, you will be able to access the API keys as you can see below.
Now just copy all the API username, API password, and signature date of your PayPal account. Then just go to the admin dashboard under woo-commerce click on “payment” click on “manage of PayPal checkout” and in this page just scroll down and enter all the APIs under the subheading API credentials. you can also customize other fields as per your need and click on “save changes”.
After the PayPal integration, if customers are purchasing any product then they will see the PayPal option and as well as the debit & credit card option. Before it was only cash on delivery and after clicking you will see a popup box of PayPal to make payment as you can see in the image below.
